Transforms target[1]

The Switching Spell[1] (incantation unknown) was a Transfiguration spell that enabled a witch or wizard to transform the targeted object into something entirely different[1].

It was effective with any sort of Transfiguration, such as turning a fang into a wine-gum[3] or an apple into an inkpot[2]. Professor Minerva McGonagall taught her students this spell from their first year to the fourth, with every sort of Transfiguration from a match into a needle to a hedgehog into a pincushion.

It should be duly noted, however, that the larger a target is, the less likely the Transfiguration is to be successful[3]. It is also worth due notice that an animate target is more difficult to Transfigure than an inanimate one[3].
