Rufus Scrimgeour is the current Minister of Magic. He got the job when Cornelius Fudge was asked to step down in 1996.
Career and Politics
Rufus Scrimgeour was previously head of the Auror office. He was first mentioned in OotP. Tonks said that the Order of the Phoenix members were going to have to be more careful around him, because he was asking Tonks and Kingsely "funny questions". Scrimgeour, when appointed, demanded that he should see Harry, Dumbledore said that "there was no chance" that Harry would see him, so he eventually gave up. Later, at The Burrow, Scrimgeour "confronted" Harry asking him to support the Ministry and being seen "coming in and out", Harry declined this and the fact that Scrimgeour was asking "Why is Dumbledore Leaving Hogwarts?" and Scrimgeour claimed he was "Dumbledore's Man Through And Through" and left. (Which Later Dumbledore described being rude.) The last time we see Scrimgeour is at Dumbledore's Funeral when he asks again about Dumbledore and Harry and what they had done the previous night before, Harry again doesn't say about his Mission to try and retrive a Horcrux. Scrimgeour will Probably return for Book Seven.
